Mombasa is the second largest city in Kenya, on the Indian Ocean. It is a major port and has an international airport. Mombasa is the centre of the tourism industry on the coast. In Kiswahili it is called Kisiwa Cha Mvita (Island of War), because of the many changes in its ownership.
