Nairobi Giraffe Center - Kenya

Giraffe Center (The African Fund for Endangered Wildlife Kenya) is a non-governmental, non-profit making organization, founded by Betty and Jock Leslie-Melville in 1979 to save the endangered Rothschild Giraffe. At the time there were only 130 of them left in the wild. Today the Rothschild Giraffe population in Kenya is about 500.

Nairobi Giraffe Center is only 15kms (20-30 minute drive) from the city center. This is the only place where you can feed the Giraffe from your palm.

Nearby is the Karen Blixens farm house where the author of the book “Out of Africa” lived. It is the location where the movie “Out of Africa” was shot.
